L O B O

To be premiered in JULY 2026

LOBO is a contemporary performance rooted in the Renaissance polyphony of Alonso Lobo’s De lamentatione Ieremiæ Prophetæ (1602). Starting from this vocal composition—originally sung in darkness during Holy Week—we craft a scenic and sensorial landscape where six bodies move, sing, appear and disappear. Without words, only voice. Without text, only light. The piece unfolds as a choreographic and musical exploration of longing and lament, using the interplay of voice, movement and light to expose what remains unspoken between presence and absence, between the individual and the collective.

As the work has evolved, we've come to understand LOBO as a meditation on the nature of time—its layering, its resistance, its fragility. Each gesture, each breath, each note lingers like a remnant of something both ancient and fleeting. Time here is not linear; it folds, repeats, transforms. Through this temporality, LOBO invites the audience into a suspended space where identities shift and dissolve, where memory and anticipation coexist, and where the unknown other is always present, mirrored, or reflected back.
