La luz del lobo no pesa
(The Wolf's Light Is Weightless)

To be premiered in MARCH 2026

LA LUZ DEL LOBO NO PESA is an interdisciplinary performative installation conceived by Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou in collaboration with lighting designer Jou Serra. The piece originates from the activation of a suspended luminous object and invites the audience into an immersive reflection on alterity and the mechanisms behind the construction of the other. Through the interplay of body, sound, and light, the work unfolds as both a sculptural presence and a perceptual event. The installation’s title — The Wolf’s Light Has No Weight — alludes to the dual meaning of the Spanish word lobo, which refers both to the 17th-century composer Alonso Lobo, whose music inspires the piece, and to the animal, the wolf, evoking themes of recognition, estrangement, and coexistence.

The installation centers on a fragile, suspended form measuring nine meters in length — an ethereal body that hovers three meters above the ground and interacts with projected light in a constant state of transformation. This luminous choreography, combined with a resonant sonic atmosphere drawn from the wordless fragments of Lobo’s De lamentatione Ieremiæ Prophetæ, creates a space where time seems suspended. These brief, textless vocalizations — like fleeting stars across a silent sky — become the seed for a contemporary ritual of presence.

LA LUZ DEL LOBO NO PESA is the first part of a diptych inspired by Alonso Lobo’s De lamentatione Ieremiæ Prophetæ (1555–1624). Drawing from a series of short, wordless musical fragments by the composer, we explore the notion of alterity and its significance in the formation of both individual and collective identities. The second part of the diptych, LOBO, is a theatrical stage piece that will premiere at the Grec Festival in 2026.
